Leading Edtech Firm TinyTap Launches AI-Generated Games And Content
World’s leading library for interactive educational games, TinyTap launches AI-based content generation and deepens its strategic partnerships with Web 3 firm Open Campus. Following a ten-year spell as one of the leading edtech platforms, TinyTap, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, is entering a new technological development stage, introducing novel AI features to enhance educational content creation on its platform. According to a release this Wednesday, TinyTap has launched the ‘prompt to game’ AI beta today and is expected to launch its ‘prompt to text/image’ AI generator later next month. Moreover, users and creators on the platform can leverage the ‘Practice Anywhere’ AI, which allows creators to turn any form of media into educational games and courses. In addition, TinyTap, one of the launch partners of Open Campus, announced the strengthening of the two firms’ partnership in the future and the integration of Publisher NFTs and $EDU tokens on TinyTap. “We are excited to unveil our AI roadmap, which will redefine how teachers and parents create engaging and interactive educational content for children,” Yogev Shelly, CEO of TinyTap, said. “With its new AI-powered functions, TinyTap will make content creation faster and more accessible, enabling teachers and parents to provide a personalized learning experience for each child." TinyTap’s Roadmap for AI Integration TinyTap is an online edtech platform that allows millions of users to generate educational courses and interactive games on a no-code platform. Since its launch in 2012, TinyTap has grown into the most prominent educational library for games, with companies such as Sesame Street and Oxford University Press creating their own games. With the integration of AI technology, TinyTap will empower even more creators to generate educational content and games more efficiently and quickly. According to the team statement, the decision to pivot to AI comes in light of the recent developments in the industry (just check Chat GPT’s rise) and its mission to provide a better user experience. To kick off the AI revolution on the platform, TinyTap is launching the “Prompt to Game” beta feature, allowing anyone to enter a topic prompt in a search box, and TinyTap’s AI creates a complete game from the topic provided, as this live demo shows. “As in various other fields, AI presents some terrific opportunities for edtech. Integrating AI into TinyTap allows us to scale up educational opportunities with customised programs tailored for each learner,” Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, said. Additionally, the “Prompt to Text/Image” is set to launch this September. The team states that this feature aims to allow creators, educators and teachers to generate graphics, texts, and images from simple topic prompts. This will gradually enhance their courses and help them create more interesting lessons as the AI learns and adapts. “More efficiently produced content means a larger education library, which will also help teachers earn more on TinyTap,” Siu added. If the beta phase of TinyTap’s AI engines is successful, the development team will also launch the “Practice Anywhere” tools to enable creators to learn more about creating content using AI content generators. In addition, these tools can be used to “turn existing media into learning material”. For example, users paste the URL link of an educational video into the tool, and the AI transcribes the video, creates a lesson, and produces real-time TinyTap games. TinyTap integrates $EDU tokens and Publisher NFTs Apart from AI, TinyTap is also shifting its attention towards Web 3.0, strengthening its relationship with Open Campus. According to the statement, starting next quarter, holders of Open Campus NFTs and its native, $EDU token will be able to spend their digital assets to create TinyTap games and courses. These games can then be converted or minted into Publisher NFTs, which can be sold on the Open Campus marketplace. This gives the creator an opportunity to raise money from “co-publishers” who can purchase the NFT in return for a share of the revenue the content generates. By introducing Publisher NFTs, creators on TinyTap will receive a fair share of earnings generated by their content while injecting new liquidity into the edtech sector. Open Campus, TinyTap, and Code Green Tackle Climate Change
The latest partnership is an extension of Open Campus’ mission to educate and raise awareness on issues of climate change and environmental conservation. This July, Open Campus, a community-led Web 3 educational content platform, announced the launch of their #ClimateChange4Kids campaign on X (formerly Twitter) to educate the upcoming generations on the importance of protecting our planet. To extend its efforts, Open Campus is now in partnership with its affiliate, TinyTap and Code Green, a Web 3 organization leveraging blockchain and art to help conserve the environment, to create educational content on climate change. The strategic partnership aims to extend knowledge and awareness of climate change via the Open Campus platform, providing creators, educators and teachers with a decentralized platform to create interactive educational games and earn from their content. While several parts of the world face extreme temperatures and wildfires, such an initiative could be a crucial step in imparting knowledge on how to stop it. Code Green, TinyTap and Open Campus come together in a mission to educate younger generations – in an engaging and interactive way – on climate change. Furthermore, the initiative extends the belief in “the power of education to shape a more sustainable future”, a mission also shared by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). "By combining education, technology, and gaming, we're creating a unique platform to engage children and empower them with the knowledge and awareness to tackle this urgent crisis for our planet,” Inna Modja, CEO of Code Green and Goodwill Ambassador for the UNCCD, said. Open Campus, TinyTap and Code Green launch NFT Giveaway In light of the new collaboration, TinyTap will create a new climate change-centred course and integrate some elements of Code Green’s game HEALV3RSE, available on The Sandbox. Featured on the UNCCD website, HEALV3RSE is a metaverse game that allows users to play, learn about the planet, and have a real-world impact. The game’s avatars and NFT will feature in the lessons to incentivize learners and enhance the overall quality of the course, the press statement reads. Through various levels of the game, players discover facts about the environment, make eco-friendly choices to help their virtual planet and perform healing actions. The ‘Play To Heal’ model enhances the game and gives players a novel experience as they participate in healing actions for our planet, such as planting trees, cleaning oceans, and installing solar panels. In addition, Open Campus and Code Green are launching a giveaway to promote the new course. Players who participate in the giveaway campaign have a chance to win up to 100 HEALV3RSE avatars and equipment NFTs. Follow-up details on the giveaway will be posted on Open Campus X (fmr. Twitter) page. The latest strategic partnership follows the successful launch of ‘Climate Change for Kids’ in July, aiming to enhance awareness of climate change, especially in younger generations. The #ClimateChange4Kids initiative has seen tremendous support worldwide, with over 200,000 impressions on X. Lastly, Open Campus’ recent partnership with Cloud Co Entertainment saw the company get a license to use the image of Care Bears, one of the most popular children's products line. Azuki DAO To Sue Project Founder Over Allegations Of Misconduct
Members of the Azuki decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) have initiated a Snapshot proposal to hold the project’s founder accountable over allegations of misconduct. The accusations arise from the release of Azuki’s Elementals collection, which launched last month, with buyers complaining that the NFTs are extremely similar to the original set, sold in 2022. A Frustrated Community The latest collection, called Elementals, could only be minted by users who held the original Azuki collection and a side project called BEANZ. The new set of NFTs, which represented half a suite of a collection of 20,000 profile pictures (PFPs), sold out in less than 15 minutes. The sale was able to raise 20,000 ETH ($39.4 million) for Chiru Labs, the LA-based startup that is behind the NFT collection, having a mint price of 2 ETH ($3900). The original Azuki collection had a floor price of 6.3 ETH ($12,400). However, after the sale, some buyers began complaining that the new collection was too similar to the original Azuki PFPs sold in 2022. The Snapshot proposal states, “We have provided support to Azuki during its highs and lows. We have contributed to building a sub-community and promoting the brand in various ways, mostly on social media such as Redbook, Twitter, and in our discord. Despite our efforts, we have only been given a similar profile picture to that of the original Azuki holders and nothing more. The team is blatantly scamming us with empathy checks and promises.” If passed, the DAO proposal would look for a lawyer to initiate a suit against the pseudo-anonymous co-founder of Azuki, Zagabond. It would also seek a refund, with all funds directed towards the project’s growth and supporting research required for the lawsuit. Zagabond is the pseudo-anonymous founder of Chiru Labs, Azuki’s parent company. The DAO claims that the Azuki team has done nothing but issue the community members a profile picture similar to that of the original Azuki holders and nothing more and is convinced that the team is scamming them. The DAO members are overwhelmingly in favor of filing a lawsuit against Zagabond, retrieving a refund of 20,000 ETH, and redirecting it towards the project’s growth. “Azuki Dao hires a lawyer and files a lawsuit against Zagabond for rugging multiple projects. Azuki Dao retrieves a refund of 20,000E from the team and allocates it to the Dao to promote the growth of the entire Azuki community and provide rewards and incentives for artists, content creators, and builders.” Zagabond had admitted in 2022 that he had abandoned three NFT projects, Tendies, CryptoPhunks, and CryptoZunks. He had claimed at the time that he was not happy with the development of the projects in question, an admission that had generated significant controversy at the time. So far, voting data has revealed that over 60% of the DAO members have voted in favor of the proposal. Not An Official Organization However, it must also be noted that the Azuki DAO is not an official organization associated with the project. The group claims that it was formed to support the project, with the token being utilized for voting minted just over the weekend and airdropped to Azuki holders. Twitter user @tytaninc highlighted the same, stating that the group could have malicious intent. “Here’s more info on where the original tweet about the AzukiDAO came from. Most Azuki holders have never heard of this group and assume it’s either fake or a group with malicious intent. The token for voting was minted two days ago, sooo there’s that.” Azuki Team Addresses Backlash The Azuki team addressed the backlash on Twitter, stating that it had missed the mark with the collection and that the mint process was extremely hectic. The team tweeted on their official handle, “This time, we missed the mark,” and acknowledging that “the [profile picture NFTs] feel similar and, even worse, dilutive to Azuki. Azuki’s vision is to build a decentralized brand. Doing so requires great communication and execution, both of which were lacking with the Elementals sale. We know that we lost a piece of trust today, but nothing gets us more motivated to make things right.” The CEO of NFT gaming studio MyMetaverse, Simon Kertonegoro also criticized the project, stating, “It is absolutely the project’s responsibility to create real products that can generate real revenue from outside markets. We need to normalize crypto and NFT projects as having real business models. They need to serve the wider market.” Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only. Animoca Brands’ subsidiary TinyTap raises US$8.5 million to disrupt education with Web3
Tel Aviv, Israel, April 25th, 2023, ChainwireTinyTap, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands and the leading edtech platform for user-generated educational games, today announced that it has raised US$8.5 million from investors including Sequoia China, Liberty City Ventures, Kingsway Capital, Shima Capital, Polygon, GameFi Ventures, and others. The funding will be used to support TinyTap’s business expansion and accelerate development in the edtech space. The investment will enable TinyTap to continue to expand its successful Web2 platform, which already serves over 9.2 million registered members, into an alternative Web3 education system that better values teachers by improving the earning opportunities available to them, and enables parents and communities to support and promote their preferred educational materials.TinyTap launched its Web3 strategy in 2022 with two successful auctions of Publisher NFTs, which generated 243 ETH (approximately US$352,000 at times of auction). Publisher NFTs are a new concept introduced by TinyTap to better empower, reward, and incentivize educational content creators and publishers. Each Publisher NFT represents co-publishing rights to one TinyTap Course, which is a curated bundle of educational games made on the TinyTap platform by one teacher in one specific subject. When these NFTs are sold, the proceeds are shared with the Course creators, and the NFT buyers assume the role of co-publishers. In return for promoting and marketing the associated Courses, the buyers share in the benefits generated from co-publishing efforts.Since the TinyTap Publisher NFTs were auctioned in Q4 2022, the average income to NFT buyers resulting from their co-publishing efforts amounted to approximately 8.2% (or 19.7% annualized) of the purchase price of the Publisher NFTs*.The Publisher NFT model is therefore able to simultaneously benefit the creators of educational content, the buyers of the Publisher NFTs, and TinyTap. This frees the creators to focus their efforts on generation of quality content, while TinyTap and the buyers of Publisher NFTs distribute and promote the content.Misa Matsuzaki owns two Publisher NFTs and earned about $7,823 from November 2022 to March 2024 by co-publishing the associated courses. She commented: “TinyTap helps teachers to actualize great ideas into educational content that can be accessed regardless of location – for example, one of the courses I bought was adapted for Japan. I did the first translation and voice over myself with the help of the TinyTap team. I look forward to seeing how Japan will welcome these exciting new possibilities in education! I would like to see more use cases like TinyTap Publisher NFTs, which are so much more interesting than just having NFTs sitting in our wallet!“Yogev Shelly, CEO of TinyTap, commented: “Our Publisher NFTs genesis auctions demonstrated that the Web3 community is well suited and willing to support educators and educational content via this new powerful and equitable incentive system. By pairing educational content creators with interested promoters, we are able to benefit all parties fairly and take a significant step in our goal to put the power of learning back in the hands of educators, students, and the community.”Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, commented: “Teachers and educators are among the most important content creators and contributors in society, and yet their wages typically do not reflect their critical importance. This is why we’re incredibly excited at the Web3 opportunities that TinyTap is exploring in the field of education. Having already succeeded in building a Web2 education platform, TinyTap is now supercharging its efforts using NFTs, making it possible for educators to better generate equity from their work and link up with co-publishers who can handle the promotion of their courses, all while offering students enhanced learning materials.”Follow TinyTap on Twitter to keep updated on future developments or visit the Web3 landing page to learn more.About TinyTapTinyTap, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, was founded in 2012 and is the world’s largest educational games library with more than 250,000 activities made by educators and publishers including Sesame Street and Oxford University Press. A portion of subscription revenue is shared with content creators based on the user engagement generated by their content.
