New crypto regulations are being formulated on the fly, governments are developing central bank-controlled digital currencies, and consumers and large institutions are going through phases of adoption or rejection.

So will cryptocurrencies become globally adopted, and will they replace all of our notions about the use of cash today? With more than 1.7 billion people in the world being unbanked and millions of other people still not being used to the digitalization of money, an opposite movement is taking place. Hybrid banknotes that can bridge cash and crypto are being developed, with the idea of merging the two worlds and bringing the digital to the analog.
