Bizarre Onchain Messages Accompany Ethereum Burns and WikiLeaks Donations

A mysterious Ethereum user has burned 500 ETH ($1.38 million) while sending a cryptic onchain message accusing Chinese hedge fund executives of using "brain-machine weapons" to control employees.

The message, written in Chinese and translated into English, was broadcast at 6:39 a.m. UTC on Monday, claiming that Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi, the bosses of Kuande Investment—also known as WizardQuant—had subjected their employees to mind control, even alleging that they themselves were victims of the same technology.

Kuande Investment, a quantitative trading hedge fund, operates across futures, stocks, and options markets. While there is no evidence to support the claims, the sender appears to have deliberately destroyed the 500 ETH by sending it to a null address, making the assets permanently irretrievable. This act, commonly referred to as "burning," removes the tokens from circulation.

This is not the first time the user has burned funds while disseminating similar warnings. Over the past week, they have destroyed a total of 603.38 ETH ($1.67 million) through multiple transactions. On Feb. 15, 70.36 ETH ($194,000) was sent to a null address alongside a message warning of a "new type of crime" where animals were being turned into digital machine-controlled puppets via brain-machine interfaces. Another 33.03 ETH ($91,000) was burned on Feb. 10 with a similar statement.

Adding to the intrigue, the same wallet has been making substantial donations to WikiLeaks. Blockchain data shows that the address, originally funded from wallets labeled as OKX and Binance, has transferred a total of 711.52 ETH ($1.97 million) to WikiLeaks.

The latest contribution of 591.62 ETH ($1.63 million) was made at 7:13 a.m. UTC on Monday, alongside a message from the sender identifying themselves as "Hu Lezhi," claiming to be a programmer and entrepreneur who had been "monitored and manipulated by a brain-control organization since birth." The message further stated that upon discovering this, the supposed perpetrators escalated their control, leading the sender to declare that they had "lost all dignity as a human being." The user ominously expressed a wish for the destruction of the world before announcing their intent to take their own life.

Another donation made earlier on Monday carried an equally bizarre warning, stating that "brain-machine chips have already been deployed on a large scale for military purposes," alleging that major global powers were using base stations, radio signals, and nano brain-machine chips to control their citizens. Prior donations also contained variations of these claims.

Beyond the WikiLeaks contributions, the Ethereum user appears to have distributed or donated more than 1,238 ETH ($3.4 million) across various addresses, deepening the mystery surrounding their motives. Whether driven by paranoia, activism, or an elaborate ploy, the user's messages and transactions have drawn attention across the crypto community, leaving more questions than answers.
