Ondo Finance launched Ondo Intelligent Portfolios on September 24, 2026, introducing three portfolio tokens that give eligible investors outside the United States access to BlackRock-developed investment strategies through individual onchain assets. The products combine weighted baskets of tokenized assets into single tokens that can be transferred across wallets, exchanges and DeFi protocols.
The launch includes three products designed around different portfolio objectives.
Each portfolio token is issued by Ondo Global Markets and tokenized by Ondo Finance. Investors can mint or redeem one token instead of separately buying, weighting and maintaining every asset in the underlying basket. Ondo said portfolio holdings, weights and rebalances are visible onchain, while smart contracts can handle portfolio adjustments without requiring investors to rebuild the allocation themselves.
Ian De Bode, Acting CEO and President, Ondo Finance, said: “Portfolios like these have never been available onchain. Now, they are made accessible onchain, transferable at any time, and usable across DeFi.” De Bode also called the launch “an important milestone in the development of onchain investment products,” linking BlackRock's portfolio-construction strategies with tokenized infrastructure for eligible investors in supported jurisdictions.
BlackRock supplies models while Ondo operates the tokens
BlackRock's role is limited to supplying nondiscretionary model portfolio strategies based on specifications provided by Ondo. BlackRock does not manage the onchain portfolios or handle their tokenization, issuance, distribution, custody or operation. Ondo and Ondo Global Markets are responsible for implementing and issuing the blockchain products.
Lisa O'Connor, Global Head of the Model Portfolio Solutions team and the Co-CIO for Global Solutions within the Multi-Asset Strategies group at BlackRock, said: “Diversified portfolio strategies can be incorporated into tokenized investment products, enabling eligible investors to access diversified allocations through a single instrument.” O'Connor said the structure shows how established portfolio-construction approaches can be distributed through new technologies and channels.
Ondo said the tokens can be transferred peer-to-peer through wallets, exchanges and DeFi protocols. The structure also allows portfolio strategies to become programmable and composable with other onchain applications while potentially combining multiple asset classes within a single token. Ondo plans to expand the Intelligent Portfolios product line with additional portfolios over time.
Ondo previewed Intelligent Portfolios in August 2026, when John Hoffman, Ondo Finance's managing director and head of product portfolios, said the concept would bundle tokenized equities into one token. Hoffman said Ondo Stocks had reached $1 billion in total value locked within eight months.
Ondo Global Markets serves as an issuance and redemption platform for tokenized publicly traded U.S. stocks and ETFs. Its tokens give investors outside the United States economic exposure to those securities and are fully backed by the corresponding stock or ETF together with cash in transit.
BlackRock previously launched its BUIDL tokenized money market fund with Securitize in March 2024. Ondo later transferred $95 million of OUSG assets into BUIDL. BlackRock expanded its tokenization activity again in August 2026 with two tokenized money-market products aimed at stablecoin reserves.
The product launch comes as Ondo faces a separate corporate-control dispute following the death of founder Nathan Allman in May 2026. Kathleen Allman, Nathan Allman's mother, is seeking control of the company and the removal of De Bode as chief executive, alleging that he assumed the role without board approval. De Bode has called the allegations “meritless.”
