Securitize launched tokenized U.S. stocks on its platform Thursday, initially offering tokens tied to Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Tesla, Meta and Amazon. SpaceX, Palantir, Circle and Strategy are expected to follow as the company expands the offering.
CET structure carries shareholder rights
Each token is backed one-to-one by underlying shares held through Securitize Markets’ regulated brokerage infrastructure. Securitize calls the structure a Convertible Entitlement Token, or CET. Holders receive applicable shareholder rights, dividends and corporate-action entitlements rather than only exposure to movements in the referenced stock.
“CETs are also designed to provide a bridge between today’s securities markets and Securitize’s long-term vision for issuer-sponsored tokenization: if an issuer subsequently adopts an issuer-sponsored tokenized share structure with Securitize, CET positions can transition into that model,” the company said.
Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo also framed the structure around ownership rather than price tracking. “Tokenized stocks should give investors more than a price that happens to track a stock,” Domingo said. “Our goal is to bring the actual ownership experience onchain — with the underlying shares, shareholder rights, regulated market infrastructure and the ability to move toward an issuer-sponsored model as companies embrace tokenization themselves.”
Solana rollout targets round-the-clock trading
The offering runs on Solana and settles in USDC. Trading initially covers extended U.S. market hours, while Securitize plans to expand toward 24/7 access. The company’s CET model is designed so positions can transition if an issuer later adopts an issuer-sponsored tokenized share structure with Securitize.
Tokenized stocks have surpassed $3 billion in onchain value, with Securitize accounting for much of the recent capital growth. Earlier this year, Securitize tapped Jump and Jupiter to provide liquidity and access for its stock tokenization effort.
Securitize also became the first company to debut its own shares both onchain and on the NYSE when it launched SECZ on Solana and Avalanche. President Brett Redfearn said at the time that Securitize was talking with major investment banks about bringing other IPOs onchain. SECZ was trading at $11.73.
