Skycoin (SKY) is a cryptocurrency created in December, 2013. Skycoin is immutable. There will is a set total of 100 million SKY coins, which cannot be additionally created or destroyed. Transactions cannot be paid for in SKY, there is a special currency, Coin Hours, for payments. Skycoin runs on the Obelisk consensus algorithm. Web-of-trust consensus removes the need for costly mining resources, eliminates the vicious cycle of mining incentives, exponentially improves transaction speeds, and delivers security.
